39 Regiment is the only surviving Regiment of the 3 original  Missile Regiment's - 24th 39th & 50th Missile Regiment's.
which are now in suspended animation.

39 Regiment the only Active Regiment with direct links to the 3 Missile Regiments which served in B.A.O.R Germany with the Honest John Missile.  1960-1977

The Original 3 Missile Regiments
 
Originally there were 3 Missile Regiments in the British Army. all in Germany. 1960 to 1972 & 1972 to 1977 amalgamations took place with all 3 Missile Regiments
 
24th Missile Regiment.     Based in Paderborn .     Barker Bk's
 
39th Missile Regiment.     Based in Sennelager.    Dempsey Bk's
 
50th Missile Regiment      Based in Menden.        Northumberland Bk's
    
The Original 3 Missile Regiments
 
 
There were 2 Batteries with the Honest-John Missile
2 Batteries with 8" Howitzer Gun
Later equiped with M110 Self propelled Gun with Nuclear capability.
 
24 Missile Batteries were 51, 76,   2, &   34 battery.
39 Missile Batteries were 19, 36, 75 &  171 battery.
50 Missile Batteries were 15, 21, 33 &    78 battery.
 
51 & 76 bty  had Honest John.      2  &  34  bty had the Guns.
19 & 36 bty had Honest John .    75  & 171 bty had the Guns.
15 & 21 bty had Honest John .    33  & 78   bty had the Guns.

Visit Brian Hogg - at his Army Catering Corps WebSite, he served in the 39 Missile Regt RA - 1970 - 72 as a Cook. His brother served with the Regiment  about the same time - 'Gunner Terry Hogg'
