Copy of a letter
ref: Reunion 2009 at Blackpool.
FROM: WARRANT
OFFICER CLASS ONE (REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR) C KERR – 39 Regiment RA
Dated - May
2007
Dear Mr. Todd (50th
Missile Regt Club secretary)
I am writing
to confirm some of the details we discussed during our belated but very interesting meeting in the Norbreck Castle Hotel,
Blackpool, on the occasion of the RAA Gala Dinner. Firstly may I once again apologize for
missing the meeting scheduled for the afternoon, I am afraid I had to deal with a matter of a personal nature that could not
be delayed. Notwithstanding it was wonderful to catch up with you in the evening and I trust you had a wonderful time, I know
that our party of the Commanding Officer, BSM’s, myself and our better halves certainly enjoyed the food, company and
entertainment.
I said that
I would write to you in order to formalize the offer of assistance to the 24/39/50 Missile regiments Reunion in Blackpool
on the 5th- 8th June 2009 and this letter and the details of our proposed assistance will be handed
on to the next RSM who will be in the chair to see this project through! Please be assured that as the only surviving
Missile Regiment we take the business of heritage and history extremely seriously and will play a full part in the celebration
and reunion in 2009, in order to make it an occasion that both the serving and retired elements of the Regiments, can be extremely
proud of.
In outline
and on behalf of the Commanding Officer, I propose that the Regiment is able to support the event in the following areas:
1. Honour Guard of 2 x Pike Men and the Battle
axe Man of 74 Battery (The Battleaxe Company) Royal Artillery.
2. 30 min presentation by a Field Officer / Warrant Officer on the
current serving Missile Regiment. To include a static display of photographs depicting Regimental Life.
3. Attendance of a cross section of the Regiment from Officers to Gunners.
If there are
any other areas where you believe the Regiment can be of any further assistance please let me know, I should be particularly
interested to attend or send a representative to any future meeting with regards the event. Until then, on behalf of the Commanding
Officer and all ranks 39 Regiment, I wish you well with the preparation.
Chris Kerr
